Tonight was the night.....of the BIG TRANSITION
We moved the crib out of Paityn's room (or should I say Geoff took it apart, and set it up again) into baby Beck's room right next door. We then put the full size mattress that will be going in the guest bedroom in the basement, into Paityn's BIG GIRL room! We just put the mattress on the floor, so if she does fall off, it is not a far fall. I also moved all of her toys out of her room, so that she wouldn't have anything to keep her from sleeping. So now, she has a new bed, well, a mattress for the time being, until we get her a twin size bed and mattress. I just wanted to get this transition started so that I wouldn't be stressed out the closer my due date nears!
I am crossing my fingers, because as of now, all is well...and she is asleep. I layed with her for about 30 minutes and then got up and left the room. She made a few sad sounds, and then was quiet, hooray! Hope this goes on through the night, and the next night, and the next. Wish us all luck in this time of change!!
I am also working on the nursery so that I can feel a little more excited for this little guy to come into the world. I bought a shelf today, and letters of his name, and I painted them. I painted the shelf dark brown and the letters red. I will hang the letters B E C K from the shelf on the hooks with ribbon. We are also going to purchase an antique fire truck to put on top of the shelf with some frames or something. So, things are coming together. I am doing the room very simple, but still adorable, in my opinion!
As for this baby really coming....I have a lot of anxiety, mostly because I have nothing for a boy. I do have the blanket I made, one my grandma made, and one she bought, as well as several items of clothing my mom bought for him, but that is it, and I am stressed. With Paityn, everything seemed complete months before she arrived. Is this normal with a second child, especially of the opposite sex? I sure hope so, but either way I better find a way to earn some money or else baby Beck will be diaperless, bibless, burpclothless, etc....

Joy, I felt the same way you seem to be feeling when I was about two months away from having James...and he was my second boy. It was really stressful because I knew we were moving three weeks after his birth so I couldn't even get a nursery ready for him. ANYWAY, one day I just decided to go out and buy all of the little necessity type of things I knew I needed and didn't have yet and I felt so much better after I did. I bought everything I could think I'd definitely need (or really wanted) the first few weeks and got it all ready. I figured spending the money was ok since I would end up buying it all anyway after he came or right before.
Good luck! The experience of having a second baby is DEFINITELY different from having a first (I bet especially when you're having a different gender) BUT it is great!
And HOORAY for Paityn sleeping well in her new bed!
Love you guys!
Yeah for change! 2 of the 3 did really well moving out of the crib, I hope Bryson does when his time comes too. His room sounds so cute. And if you need boy stuff, I have plenty, you can come pick out what you want :) I have a lot of stuff in good shape, I am just sick of it after 3 kids wearing it.
That is such a big step for Paityn! It sounds like so far so good! I will keep my fingers crossed for you! You are getting a GREAT start on Beck's room! With my second Mike was setting the cradle up AFTER we got home from the hospital. I did luck out on having two girls that were born in the same season though. That would be hard starting out with nothing! I think a BABY shower should be in order! (Do you want one in St. George?) Good luck with everything! The nursery sounds so cute!
