Once again, the name game comes into play.
WE NEED HELP!!
what do you all think of Oliver? We could call him Ollie for short, and it would be using Geoff's Paternal grandma's name in it.
Geoff was named after his great grandmother, so I think it would carry on the tradition, with our baby boy being named after his great grandmother.
Or we could resort to Eli, but then Geoff would get upset because of the whole Manning brothers thing!
I am thinking Oliver (something) Osmond at this moment though. A middle name would be nice too, but a first name will do for now!
PLEASE comment and tell us what you think, Thanks.
or....maybe opinions are not what I like, unless they are nice. I just talked to my mom and she obviously despises the name. Her quote, "well it sounds like a name for a dog". Just comment if you can give positive feedback please. I have come to realize this baby naming thing is NOT easy! (At least we won't have arguments over the spelling of this name like we did with Paityn)

To be honest I just don't like Oliver or Ollie with your last name - it just doesn't flow right.
I like Eli and I saw your post about thinking of the full name Elias. A friend of mine's brother is Elias but he has always gone by Les.
I could provide you some of my male relatives' names if you'd like. Maybe you should ask the readers of your blog for male names of our relatives and see if you like any of them.

Hi Joy,
I like Oliver and I think it flows quite nicely. I also think "Oliver Elias Osmond" would be very nice as well and it would incorporate the names that you both like!
Congrats again, and it is so nice to hear you are feeling well,
LEE
PS I love Paityn's name and the spelling too...good job!
Well I LOVE Oliver.. Oliver JAMES? Osmond..
You could call him OJ... nah maybe not huh.. lol
THOMAS Oliver Osmond?
Oliver Geoffrey Osmond
George Oliver Osmond (Georgie)
Jack ??? Osmond
Anyway .. enough from me! Hope you enjoyed the sales!...Oooo love shopping

I have a friend who named her little boy Oliver and a cousin, and I love the name! I think it is cool that it is as namesake also..do what you want to do and don't worry about what others think. When it comes down to it, people in cyberspace will never meet your child in real life anyway, and it is your kid! HAve fun deciding. I really like Eli to!
Oliver Thomas Osmond?
I see now how naming the baby Eli would get Geoff upset about the Manning brothers thing.
Forget the Oliver & Co. movie (I think that was about dogs, not sure) I like the name. But one thing you could do, if you're not crazy about it, is call him by his middle name. How about Oliver George Osmond - honor them both; or pick a middle name from your side of the family.
I had an aunt that named her daughter Sallie JoE. Joe was a great uncle who was married to Elizabeth and that's why JoE had a capital E. Get creative like that.
My cousin named her son Oliver, I quite liked it, but he has always been Ollie beak to us after a puppet of an owl on TV here in the 60s. I guess maybe that spoiled it for me. I dont now about Ollie Osmond...
I should probably butt out, I cant think of anything very nice, and you did say be nice.
My son is Christian James. Our last name was hard to find something to go with.
I found that on the family tree.
It was the onoy name we both agreed on, so he got it.
Good luck.
HOw about Oliver Eli Osmond? I think God gave us the 9 months, because it takes that long to decide on a name:) Seriously, you will find a name that you both will agree on.
oliver eli osmond?
oliver sawyer osmond?
oliver micah osmond?
oliver jayce osmond?
oliver adam osmond?
oliver paul osmond?
oliver anton osmond?
oliver ansley osmond?
(i'm on babynames.com already with this, so if the names starting getting strange, then there's reasoning.)
oliver aaron osmond?
oliver aiden osmond?

Hi, I posted before I read your part about only wanting positive feedback, I'm sorry if mine comes across as negative (it wasn't my intention) and I do like the name on it's own.
Since you and Geoff did such a great job with Paityn I know whatever name you decide will be perfect too.
Hi Joy - don't stress about your baby's name too much as you will think of the perfect name for your little guy before he is born I'm sure. I'm sure if your extended family aren't too keen on the name you decide on they will soon come round - as they will come to love the child so therefore the name will grow on them as it will belong to the child they love. Some of the boy's names I like (in no particular order) are: Isaac, Ethan, Jacob/Jake, Taylor, Levi, William, Corey, Noah and Jed.
Good luck and I look forward to hearing what name you do decide on for your little guy.
With all my best wishes
Karen
I like Oliver...with Thomas, or how about Geoffrey Oliver Osmond? OH, Oliver James or James Oliver would be good, too.
BUT, if you want some unusual names, I saw where these names were in a family: Kieren or Stellan (Stellen).
Good luck!

Oliver is nice name. The name is rarely used I think because to some it may be an old fashioned name. But who care what others think, this is your baby and you should be able to name him whatever you feel is right.
i think your baby could totally pull it off. Our whole family hated all the names we picked and I didn't think they were that bad. Micah, Luke and Ammon. Now Ammon is really different so I can understand that. Do what you want and don't let people talk you out of what you want.

hey Joy! Did Ben tell you that that was one of the names that we tossed around.. I like it. I also like Eli.. I wouldn't worry about the Manning thing..You can't lose with either one of those names!
I remember this old game...naming a son is no easy task! There is so much pressure! A few things that helped me were:
Not listening to negative feedback from well-meaning people.
Imagine YOUR son with the name as a little boy and as a grown man (that is what ultimately took Asher out of the runnings for our lil guy...I just couldn't see a man named Asher...too bad, I loved the name!)
And last but not least, pray about it...i know that sounds weird, but I stressed out so much over this that i really needed some inspiration from above on the matter!
I love the idea of using family names! Its really special to be able to do that...my sister in law got out her mom's genealogy book and found the name Soren from WAY back in the line and it's a super cute name that no one else is using right now...just an idea for finding more ideas.
Sorry about the long comment! Good luck and let me know how the search goes!!
I love the name, especially with the connection to a loving family member. (I've used that for my own kids.)
I did like Oliver James, but if the OJ initials aren't like, there's always James Oliver.
And I also like Oliver George or George Oliver as someone else suggested.
:D Not much help, but I do love namesake names.
I like Oliver Geoffrey, so that is my two cents worth.
I can suggest my maiden name of Wyatt. Okay, that is reaching, I know. Ha! Ha!
You may know when you see the baby, what is name should be.
I like the name Oliver but i do like the name Eli a bit more.To be honest i really don't think the Manning thing will be a problem.what if you used both names Oliver Eli or Eli Oliver.that way you both get the names you like?Good Luck im sure the perfect name will come to you guys!
JOy my comment on this never appeared. Did you not like it or did it not actually get through. I only ask because I eem to be having some problems with blog postings lately.
I hope you find your name for your little fella who is now due on "my" birthday.
We managed to agree on Christian. That was the only one so Christian James he is...
Good luck.
Hmm I guess the other one didnt get through. thanks.
I write my comment go to post it and the whole thing freezes.
Seems I have some PC housekeeping to do. Well at least I know, wish I knew how to fix it.
thanks again.
I love the name Oliver. It was almost Coen's middle name.
