Written words.

what a boring title, right? Well I hadn't blogged in over a week and I was feeling the withdrawel coming on, so I decided I would update with what has been going on. This is more journaling, and not so much for you readers, but do as you please.

This past weekend I got an early Mother's Day gift. I had wanted to go to the Oh Sweet Sadie Academy, which is a day of crafting, so mom let me go as a gift, and Geoff watched the kidlets almost all day long. I talked Lyn into going with me, I didn't have to convince her too much, she loves to craft as well. We enjoyed creating things from tissue poms, to fabric dolls. I can't wait to hang some poms from Paityn's ceiling (maybe today!). I also set one pom on top of my kitchen cabinets. It matches my newly painted walls. Oh, about those walls, I still need to do some picture taking and blogging about my fabulously "remodeled" kitchen.
What is a pom you ask? Well, it all began with Martha Stewart, and they are SO EASY!!

The finished product looks like this

These are not mine, I took this picture off of Martha Stewart's site.
I will take a picture of EVERYTHING I crafted and put some pictures up eventually. Also, at the show I saw these adorable flip flops with satin flowers on the toe part, and they were selling them for $18.50/pair. I knew I could create the exact same thing for a fraction of that price, and I DID! I actually got the flip flops, that were 2.50/pair for FREE at Target. I used our food card to purchase 4 of this frozen entree item, and got a $5 gift card in return. I then used that $5 to buy two pairs of flip flops for Paityn. Purple and Brown. Then I went to walmart, got some satin, tulle, and pearls, and came home to create my flowers. SO EASY. Glad I didn't spend a ridiculous amount of money, when you could make these for about $3.00/pair, that includes the sandals and the items to make the flowers. Picture of these coming soon as well.
On another note, I can't believe that today is May 6, 2010. Where does the time go. 5 years ago today, WE got engaged. I will always remember that day. It was unforgettable, and simply amazing. Geoff is an incredible guy, and looking back at days like that help me remember that when days aren't so great. I love him. Speaking of him, he got a job. He had been volunteering for a couple of weeks at Jordan Valley Hospital, and was liked so much, that they offered him a job as a CNA. Hard to come by these days, the job openings that is. He was told, like he already knew, that they like to hire from within. Glad he was there, and they liked the kind of guy he is. This actually deserves its own post, with a picture of him and all. I will have to do that next!
Today...I am just at home. I have plans. I have goals set, written down. I will accomplish some of them. Right now I am blogging, Paityn is sitting next to me on the sofa chair, and Beck is making a mess, like always. Really, he is always getting into something. And, if he isn't getting into something he is eating something. By eating, I don't mean food, I mean PAPER! He sees a book, or a piece of paper and just wants to rip it to shreds with his teeth. He has 8 now you know! 4 top, 4 bottom. The top teeth seem much bigger than the bottom. Does that mean buck teeth? Hope not. And, if he is not using those teeth for paper ripping, he is BITING. He bites hard, through many layers of clothing. We have all been subjected to his affection.
Paityn is catching onto a lot these days. I will say something, to "fool" her, like "Paityn, we can't watch Max and Ruby, it is broken". I don't like when she watches this because it has so many commercials, unlike other shows that she can watch for 30 minutes with no interruptions. She on the other hand, LOVES Max and Ruby. So before she came to lay by me, she said I watch my show. I turned on the tv. She said, "Max and Ruby, please?, Dora, Boots, broken" This made me laugh. She was pretending as if Dora was broken this time so I would have to turn on Max and Ruby. So I guess my trickery may not work, she is onto me, and she is fooling me in return!
and lastly, but certainly not least...I ran a 5k last night.  I am still training, and we have a team run a week from saturday. It will be around Oquirrh Lake here in Daybreak. I ran the 3.1 miles in 33 minutes, NOT where I want to be, but certainly a step in the right direction.
Beck is demanding my attention right now, with tears in his eyes. That means, I have got to end this post.

Joy,
What a great post...so much substance and so entertaining. You are such a good writer! So, are Max and Ruby taking over for Dora and Boots? Can't keep up with all these characters. Glad you are so creative with money and talented with crafts.

Love,
Mom

Funny story about Paityn, isn't it amazing how at that young age how smart they are.

Great that you ran a 5K - congrats.

I had forgotten about those tissue flowers. Used to make them with my kids 30 years ago.
Thanks for jogging my memory Joy.
Can do them with the grand kids.
