We JUST surprised my mom with the best gift EVER!
Let me go back a few weeks.... My mom has been asking for Skype (a free online program where you can see live video, picture and voice) for a long time now. She really misses her grand babies, and this was the best way to see them all of the time. Geoff got it all set up about 3 weeks ago, and we have skyped a few times since then. For Mother's Day, our plan was to meet on Skype at 8 am (that would be tomorrow morning).
I had a different idea.
MY IDEA: Pretend to meet on skype, but actually DRIVE to California and walk in the door just as she was getting on the computer to skype with us. I talked to my dad about this a couple weeks in advance and everything was set and ready. We would leave on Saturday May 8, TODAY, and spend the night at my Grandma's tonight, and surprise my mom in the morning. Well, on our drive down, I decided I couldn't wait to surprise her, so I called to see if she wanted to skype tonight, around 6:30 pm. She agreed.
At 6:32 my dad and brother Adam came outside, grabbed the kids, and walked in through the garage door. My mom was turned around, looking down in the fridge. My dad said "well, Joy isn't going to be able to skype tonight" Mom: "what, why not?" We were ALL standing right there! She looked up and CRIED HYSTERICALLY. My brother Paul, didn't know we were coming, heard her from the other room, and was really wondering what was going on!!! He then realized what happened, and everyone was very surprised and excited.
Don't know if I will EVER top this Mothers' Day.
