Sleepless in Seattle, really!

We just got home from a wonderful weekend away, in Seattle Washington. Up until the last hours we didn't know if we would be making the trip because of Beck being so sick, however, I really wanted to go on a vacation, so we packed up, and headed out of town for a few days. The flights were long, the babies got restless, but once we were there we had such a great time.
We went with Geoff's boss Scott, his wife Tracy and their girls, Alexandra and Madison. We stayed with Tracy's sisters family, in a small town called Bay Lake, which is about 1 1/2 hours outside of Seattle. They built a beautiful house right on the lake, and the view was more than gorgeous.
The night we arrived we sat around the fire pit, next to the lake and had a simple dinner roasting hot dogs on the fire. Since the babies were tired, and Beck was sick I went to bed soon after dinner, so we could be well rested for the next day. Well, that didn't happen. I don't think any of us really got a lot of sleep that night. Beck was so sick, I was up with him, and Paityn woke up at 5:30 thinking it was time to play. I did get a little morning nap once Beck decided to sleep. When we got up we had a breakfast of waffles and homemade blackberry syrup, yum! We went into the city that day and enjoyed walking around Pike's Place Market, a famous place to visit while in Seattle. I couldn't believe that you could get such a huge bouquet of flowers for $10! I wanted some but figured it was a waste since I couldn't take them home with me. We bought the kids matching Seattle Shirts, with little turtles hand painted on them. We ended our day in the city by taking the fary to the city of Bremerton and then driving back to the house. It was a long day, and we were welcomed back with a dinner of homemade pizza. Again, yum!
That night was not much better. I was so worried for Beck because he had a very unhappy day, ALL day. Geoff gave him a blessing, and I know that it helped him heal a little faster. We went to bed, had another sleepless night, and I was worn out in the morning.
On Sunday, which was Father's Day, we woke up and had homemade scones for breakfast...I think I ate 5 or 6! The plan was to go to Pinrose State Park, during low tide, and walk along the ocean floor to look at the sea life. I decided it would be best to keep Beck home all day so he could get better, so everyone else went ahead. (Let me just tell you on a side note, we stayed with the most wonderful people I have ever met. Rick and Cheryl were the best hosts. They fed us homecooked meals and graciously took the babies off of our hands so we could have a break). Ok, back to Sunday morning. Rick saw that I had stayed home and told me he would watch Beck so that I could go be with my family at Pinrose Park. This was Father's Day, when he should have just been relaxing! So I get there, and find out that Paityn was so tired that they took her home and Tracy stayed with her. So now, it was Geoff and myself looking at the sea life, which I wouldn't dare touch, while our kids were back at the house being watched. SO NICE!!!
Later that day, I was able to take a little nap, go out on the kayaks, and we enjoyed another yummy meal of Fajitas for dinner with the missionaries. Dessert was key lime pie, Geoff's favorite. Paityn even came out on the kayak with me and loved it. She didn't want to be done.
That night was a little better, but still, sleepless at times. Monday morning we slept in a little later, thank goodness, and had breakfast of pancakes waiting for us. Are you all jealous by this point? Yes, we were spoiled!
We hung around their property, which I am jealous of, and just relaxed a little before another meal for lunch. This time, grilled chicken salad sandwiches. Can we all say it? YUM!!!
I don't think we got enough pictures of their home, but it can't all be put into words. One of their sons built this huge, tree house, or should we say tree hotel, they have a fun tree swing, a natural spring and pond, with fish and frogs, and much more. It was incredible, and I am so glad we had the opportunity to vacation there.
The time spent in Washington was short, but so worth it. I am happy to say that we made it home safely, and Beck is getting better each day. Last night I actually slept for a 4 hour period straight through, that was well needed.
I hope you all enjoy the pictures that I will be posting tomorrow, and don't get too jealous of the amazing time we were able to have!

That was a great trip, I am sorry Beck was sick, but your description of washington makes me want to go there. I have a close cousin that lives there, maybe I will venture out there. Your friends that you stayed there sound like wonderful people. Aren't friends a blessing!!
