Happy Easter

We had a very fun, busy, exciting time in California this past week. Because we really had nothing to come home to, we extended our stay a few days and came home on Thursday the 16th.
In my previous blog I wrote about our adventure of driving to California, and now I will fill you in on our adventure while in Cali and our road trip home.
Friday, my mom took me shopping, and Beck came along for the journey. We had a lot of fun, trying on clothing, and just spending time together. It is not often that I get to be with my mom, and I really enjoy it. That night my mom took Geoff to the Angels vs. Red Socks game, and I know they both had a great night, because they both love the Angels, and they won! While they were at the game I was at the hotel with the kidlets. Beck was having one of his MANY screaming spells, and that was not fun, however, my best friend Danielle came for a visit, and we got to catch up, and she was able to meet the new little guy. She also bought him the cutest little outfit from babyGAP, and I can't wait to put him in it!
Saturday was a crazy busy day to say the least. We went over to my parents about 10:30 am, and didn't get back to the hotel until about 10 pm. The highlights of the day include; my grandma coming over to meet her great grandson, and to take me to get my nails done. She also took me to get some new shoes, and I scored, 3 new pairs, yeah!! I had a great time with her, and my feet and hands loved every minute of being pampered.
2nd highlight was having my Aunt Marcy come over to meet her great nephew, and she brought along gifts for both of the little ones. (her ringing the doorbell was almost even better than the gifts....almost! I will fill you in, in a minute!)
That night we went out to dinner at Lucille's BBQ, which is one of our favorite restaurants to go to when visiting California. Along for the ride included, Grandma Bobbie, my mom, Paul, Adam, Geoff, the kids and myself. Dad was flying home from his trip to Utah at the time! It was a great meal, but after dinner we were definitely ready for bed.
And...on to the LOWLIGHT of the day, if that is even a word....losing Milo =(
Geoff called me worried out of his mind, right when we were pulling up to the nail salon, of course! He said that they couldn't find Milo anywhere, and that he was driving around my neighborhood searching for him. I was terribly worried as well, because he is like our firstborn child! So...I dropped my grandma off, and started on a search myself. We looked everywhere, and asked everyone that was out, and he was nowhere to be found. My brother Paul was also out searching. I figured he had been stolen, or was just impossible to find. I couldn't believe this was happening. Could our lives get any worse at the moment? I didn't know how we would come back home without our beloved Milo. I mean, at times he drives us crazy, but this made us realize how important he really is to our family. If you have a pet, you will understand! I went back to my parents house to check every nook and cranny I could. I called his name, and still nothing. No one knew how he could have gotten out in the first place, because no one had left the house, besides myself and my grandma, and he didn't come out with us, I was 99% sure.
Well, I was leaving the house to go search again, and my Aunt Marcy pulled up. I said hello, and off I went. About 5 minutes later, my mom called and said, "we found Milo". Hallelujah!!!! When Marcy rang the doorbell, Milo got out from under my parents bed. Are you serious? I had just been in there calling his name, and...nothing. How frustrating, he almost gave us a heart attack, and he was in the house the entire time!!!! I called Geoff and my brother, and fortunately for everyone, the search was called off, MILO HAD BEEN FOUND!
Sunday- EASTER had finally arrived, and we were very excited, especially since it was such a nice day, 75 degrees and Paityn and Beck had been spoiled by the Easter Bunny, aka Grandma Mickie! We got the kids dressed up, and we went to church with my parents. After church we got ready and went to my cousins house for a huge Easter celebration. John and Myra really know how to throw a great party. Thanks for having us! It was so great to see everyone, and especially great to let everyone meet Beck. Paityn and him were really the highlight of everyone's day and I don't think I held Beck once, all day long!
Monday- We were going to leave, however we got easily talked in to staying another day. Paityn and I decided to try out the hotel pool at 8 am, but it was too cold so we went in the hot tub. She loved it, and so did I. Then we headed to my parents, and had an Easter egg hunt. Yes, it was a day late because we didn't have time the day before! Then we just relaxed around the house, and that night we were able to go to dinner at another favorite, BJ's. We met up with Becca and Gerry, Zach and Lauren, and my parents also came along! Food was great, dessert was even better, and the the company was the best!!!
Tuesday we got all packed up, and spent some time with my parents before leaving town. We went to the park, and had some fun watching Paityn on the swings, and the slides, although I think she was a little scared of it all. That night we got to Mesquite Nevada and stayed the night, in a "pet friendly" room. It was horrible. Next time we will just sneak Milo into a regular room, because I think that room had been peed in one too many times! We had dinner at the Virgin River Hotel buffet, voted #1 in town. I would have to say it should have been voted, #1 most disgusting food establishment in Nevada!
We woke up the next day, well actually at 3 am, because Paityn wouldn't sleep! At 10 am we left, and drove to Cedar City, and it was snowing on our way. We spent the day with our good friends, the Harpers, and we really had a good time just hanging out while it snowed. Heather fed us quite well, and we enjoyed being their taste testers for the chili cookoff (I need the recipe please). We ended up staying the night, because we just couldn't get enough of them!!!
Thursday we decided it was about time that we finish our road trip, and come home. We had a great time all along the way, but it is always nice to get back home and get into a normal routine again.
Thank you to EVERYONE who made our trip so amazing. Especially my parents, we were spoiled beyond belief!!!

We LOVED having all of you here (and spoiling you!), so thanks for making the long trip to spend Easter with us. Everyone was very glad you came and having two babies in the family now just made our Easter celebration that much more special!

Love,
Mom & Grandma Mickie

That sounds like a great vacation, even with the Milo problem. I think the best thing God ever invented was FAMILY. It sounds like you have family in abundance. I also have a great family, a little smaller that it used to be, but still the one thing that makes life great. Rest up from your vacation. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Joy,

As always it was really fun to read your Blog as you paint beautiful pictures with your words.

My Husband and I have two large dogs and we always take them with us when we visit his family. We always stay at the very Pet Friendly Howard Johnson's. Their rooms are reasonably priced and you can't tell the pet friendly rooms from the regular rooms as they are really clean and well maintained.

There is a small pet fee, however you do receive your pet deposit back when you check out. So if you guys and Milo ever need a nice Pet Friendly place stay in the future, I would highly recommend Howard Johnson's.

Peace Be With You,
LEE
