Our NEW Camera

So last night we purchased our second digital slr camera. It is the Canon EOS 40D, and it is a beautiful camera. Along with this body, we were lucky enough to purchase two lenses, a telephoto lens, and a zoom lens. Normally to purchase these three products would cost over $3,000....but we got the deal of a lifetime and we are not complaining.
I think this offer came just in time, as we have been talking about getting some really nice lenses, usually about 1,000 dollars per lense, and also a second camera for a while now. Geoff and I will be shooting a wedding in july/august, and this will help us out tremendously.
We are both overjoyed at our new toys, and hope that our hobby of picture taking will eventually turn into something more. We still have a LONG ways to go, and a lot more equipment to purchase, but for now we are sitting pretty!
I hope this means the quality of the pictures that you see will be even better now, but give me some time...I still have a lot to learn.
So, we really need to start our practicing, any willing models out there?

How exciting for you guys!

Joy- I think the pictures you take of Paityn are adorable (how can they not be with how cute she is?). Anyway, I would LOVE it if you would take some of Connor and some newborn ones of James once he comes. Maybe we can come up sometime before we move.

I'm drooling over the camera though. I'd love to get one someday.

(I'm too far away to volunteer some practice models for you, but otherwise I'd jump at the chance.)

The Canon is supposed to be really good. I couldnt run to it and got an Olympus. I too got a deal which included a telephoto and cashback. Unlike you I have a husband who has never owned a camera and wasnt up for spending more. Anyway i am pretty happy with the Olympus. My old "film" SLR was a Fuji...I do like Fujis. I still have it, but never use it anymore.
I do think your pictures are really good anyway Joy, but understand your excitement at getting the new toy.
Much as I like the picture of the camera, cant wait to see what you can do with it.
Have fun in the sun.

Hey! Do you want to do a trade? I'll take pictures of Paityn and you can take some of Marshall? I don't know about you, but getting your own kid to smile at you is HARD!!! Even if you don't want to trade, would you do Marshall's? He's a very cute subject.
