My Dad

I just want to tell you how grateful I am for my dad. It is really hard to celebrate days like this, and be away from my family. I don't think I have been able to spend a Father's Day with my dad in over 5 years, and I wish I could. Last year my dad actually stayed at our home while Geoff and I were on vacation, and we still didn't see him ON Father's Day. I have always known and loved my dad for being a great dad, and loving me in his own special ways. I didn't know until Paityn was born just how great of a Grand-dad he would be. Ok, well I kind of got a taste of it when we got Milo, because he loves him so much, but it just isn't the same. It is difficult to not have my parents nearby while my baby grows up, but I am so lucky that we are able to see each other at least every couple of months.

My dad has always been the one wanting to take us places, and I am glad he has had the chance to take Paityn places as well, including the Hogle Zoo and the Salt Lake Bees Baseball game. She will always remember that her first trip to the zoo, and her first baseball game were with her Grandpa Doug (and we hope he wants to take her on a lot more firsts, and maybe take us along...hint hint!).
I love my dad and I want him to know that I will always be his little girl, even though I have a little girl of my own now. How fun it is to have my own daughter, and to share my joys with my dad.
Know that I love you, and miss you and wish I could be there with you today and every day.
Happy First Fathers Day... as a Grandpa, WE LOVE YOU!
