Most are VERY skeptical of this thing called the CLOTH DIAPER. I am as well. However, if I do have another child I will be trying it out, and hopefully saving some money as well. I would start now, because really, Beck has a long way until potty training, but I am a scaredy cat. I keep talking myself out of it, like it will be too hard to learn, or, I will always be doing laundry, or something along those lines. I wish it was easy, and I could just do it.

I loved my cloth diapers. (I did both, cloth and disposies.) They are easy. I used mostly Fuzzi Bunz, which are pocket diapers. There's many more choices now and cute patterns!
I have been contemplating switching to cloth, too... but figure I'll wait until I know we're having another kid. If you do end up switching, you'll have to let me know how it goes.
I think it's a great idea to try the cloth swim diapers. Not being a parent, I never thought about what a waste of money swim diapers are.
Good luck with them.
Nancy
I have done cloth the whole time with Teagen and we really like them. If you have any questions let me know. We have tried a bunch of different brands so we know what ones are better than others, for us anyway. Where are you buying the swim diapers? I have a lady if you don't have anyone yet.
check out this link - it was on people.com
"Constance Marie’s Blog: Why I Chose Cloth Diapers tells PEOPLE Moms & Babies why she chose to use cloth diapers for her baby girl.
She’s even secured readers a special deal in case you’d like to try them yourself!"

Thanks Nancy. And Lindsay- a lady for what? to purchase them through?
Wow, they have changed cloth diapers since I used them. They were plain white, had to fold them a certain way, and everything got wet unless you used plastic pants over them (which were awful). Looks like you guys have quite a nice selection, are they treated so they do not wet everything the baby sits on?
Yeah, I have to agree . . . cloth diapers have changed so much. I didn't even know until I read this post. We used cloth diapers for our last two.
They are not at all a hassle. I would just drop #2 in the toilet and that's it. I did not wash them out in the toilet first. I would have them go through the rise cycle in the washing machine once, then I would wash them in a normal cycle. The plastic covers were never a problem either. Unless you waited too long to change the baby, as with ALL diapers, they leaked.
My friend, who had 4 kids in 3 years (yup, you read that right . . . her oldest wasn't even 3 yet!!), she used cloth diapers for ALL her kids. But she used a service. They provided everything. They just put the whole dirty diaper in the pail and that's all. The company would pick up the diaper pail, drop off a new one with clean diapers and that's all. Her youngest, the twins, just graduated from High School this month. Wow, does time fly!
