As I sit here, bored, at the end of our Easter weekend I am thankful for the time we were able to spend doing so many fun things for this holiday. I will start from the beginning, and then fill you in on why I am bored, ON EASTER!
Friday morning, Geoff became the Easter bunny, for a planned neighborhood egg hunt. Because of the non-anticipated snow storm that wreaked havoc on Wednesday and Thursday, our outside hunt, was changed to inside our church building. It was still a lot of fun though. I think there were about 15 kids, and adozen or so, parents. Each child got to find 15 eggs. They all seemed to enjoy it. We left with a bunch of candy, fun new plastic eggs, and of course, the memories.
Friday afternoon Lyn put on a "private" egg hunt for her darling grandchildren. There were silver and gold eggs, with money, and other special eggs that you got to choose a prize if you got those eggs. After the egg hunt she gathered the little ones around and told the story of Easter, The Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We feasted on taco soup, and then finished the evening with Easter baskets for the children. All got a new swimsuit, among other things. Needless to say, the kids got SPOILED by granny!
Saturday morning, we got ready for, guess what? ANOTHER Easter party. This one was in Ephraim, with Carolyn's side of the family. This was our first year going to the Annual Olsen Easter party. Darn it! It was a lot of fun, and the kids enjoyed an OUTSIDE Easter egg hunt, a "cake walk", and other fun little games to win prizes. We enjoyed the yummy food, and good company of family. After the party we went back to Carolyn and Tom's for a longer visit. Again....the kids were SPOILED. This time by Grandpa and Grandma Olsen!!!!
On our drive home, the kids slept, actually Geoff slept too. I drove. I tried to keep up with speedy Gonzalez, aka Ben Osmond, but he is a FAST driver! We got home, Geoff got ready for the priesthood session of conference, and I got our sleepy, fussy children ready for bed.
This is the not so fun part of the story. Beck seemed a little clingy, and then I felt that he was a bit warm. I took his temp and it was 100.6, so I gave him some tylenol, a bottle, and put him to bed about 7 pm. Before I went to bed at 11 pm, I went in to check on Beck, he was sound asleep, but ON FIRE. I got him out of his crib, and took his temp once again. This time it read 103.8!!!! Geoff and I decided it would be best if I take him to the ER. I got there around 11:20, and from then until about 2:30, they did different tests to see what he may have. They ruled out RSV, with a nasal suction test. They ruled out Pneumonia, with chest x-rays (that traumatized the poor little guy (look at picture below, however, this is NOT Beck) SO SAD. He screamed bloody murder forEVER). They ruled out ear infections (really?). Then, the doctor decided to do a STREP test, to see if he had strep throat, which is very UNCOMMON in children under 3. Sure enough, the test they did LAST, at 2:30 AM was the test that came back positive. SO, they prescribed an antibiotic, took his temp again (it was at 100.3, going down with meds, good!) started it their at the ER, and we were on our way home.
Because today is General Conference, we always go up to Grandpa Heslop's house to spend time with family. Today being Easter, it made it extra enticing. Well, with Beck contagious, he obviously couldn't go, so we flipped a coin, and Geoff won, so he took Paityn and I stayed with Beck. That is where the boredom comes in. Actually, I was able to nap, since I only slept 3 or 4 hours last night. Beck STILL has a temp of 102, so if it doesn't go down by morning, a visit to the doctor is awaiting! Pray he gets feeling better. He JUST went down for another nap. I really hope he gets feeling better. Poor little guy, he has had it hard during his 1st year of life.
Geoff and Paityn (and Matt) are on their way back from the festivities, and I am excited to have them home. Although the weekend ending on a crappy note, we had a LOT of fun while it lasted!

Sounds like a very busy weekend - and sorry to hear about the trip to the ER. High temperatures on babies are scary. My Mom said she'll never forget my sister had such a high temp once she was seeing things on the wall. My sister is 47 now, and my Mom said she will never forget that.
I'm sure it was hard to see Beck that way - probably worse on you and Geoff then Beck. Hope he is doing better.
That's so great you have so many family members to go see on Easter and lots of fun activities . I'm sure they will tell you that's the fun of being a grandparent and an Uncle or other single relative - it's fun to spoil the children of the family.

I am so sorry he's sick.
Guess why we didn't go to the egg hunt? I have strep throat too. I was no where near Beck but I sure know how he feels. Careful that he doesn't get dehydrated.
Hope no one else in either of our families get sick!
I didn't see the picture earlier - no wonder he was traumatized - you'd think with all the technology they'd invent a better way to take x-rays for babies - that's awful.

We missed you and Beck up at Grandpa's. I hope Beck is feeling better. No fair for such a sweet little guy to be soooo sick.

So Clint had to have that same xray thing but his arms were to short to go above his head...saddest thing ever...so it didn't work...but so sad to have to have sick babies! Hope you are all happy and well. CAll me so we can get together.
