I figured I would get a early head start on saying what I am grateful for, since we celebrate Thanksgiving in just over two weeks.
Geoff started a new job yesterday, and although it's not ideally what he would love to be doing, it is a good job, and will support our family. So, I am not only thankful for this new job opportunity, but I am thankful for a good husband and father who will do anything in his power to support his family.
I am thankful for change. Change makes us realize how truly blessed we have been in our lives.
I think the next few years are going to be changing dramatically for our family. We will probably be poor for a little while, but in the end, Geoff will be doing something he loves.
Geoff has decided that.... back to school he goes! He will start with a couple of prerequisites needed, and then enter a nursing program, and then more school after that most likely.
I don't envy this decision, as I am so glad to have achieved my bachelors degree, and I never want to go further! Geoff on the other hand, he wants to feel more accomplished. I admire him for wanting to better himself, and make a good living for our family.
We are excited, we are scared, but we are grateful.
The first step starts this weekend so Geoff can get his C.N.A. (certified nursing assistant) certificate. He will go for 8 hours a day/every weekend for 4 weeks, and then once he is finished he wants to get a part time job to gain some hospital experience.
I guess I should also be thankful that all I have to do, while Geoff is slaving away, is be a mommy to these two adorable children we have.
I am THANKFUL. For life. For change. For challenges. It makes me a better person.

I'm a nurse Joy and it's a good living...eventually. The road there is tough, but worth it. Men do well in nursing, so hang in there. Good Luck to you both.
That's great about Geoff's new job and that he is pursuing something he loves too. Nursing is a great field and there will always be a need for good nurses.
Yes we should all think of what we should be grateful of - even if Thanksgiving is still a couple weeks away. You seem like you have a good head on your shoulders and your family should be grateful they have you in their lives.
Tell Geoff good luck with his new job and his new studies.

That's a good post. It's exactly how I feel and what I'm thankful for. Being poor isn't as bad as you think....you'll realize that you're not poor, you just can't shop. :) Everything you still have during the time Geoff is in school will be magnified and appreciated more; just having your family and a hard working husband makes not having extra money no biggie. Of course you always wish for it, but you get by with what you need. And no one will judge you...well, maybe up in Daybreak, but who cares! I'm glad Geoff figured it out and is getting started. Good luck! I'm glad all you have to do is be the mommy, even though that's hard, and it will be hard to see Geoff "doing everything else." That's how I felt a lot of the time. Watching how much Jared would study, then do homework, then go to multiple jobs, all while I'm "just at home."
Anyway, I think it's exciting and time will go faster than you think it will. Love you guys!!!! xoxo
