"Mormons"

I saw something today that just got me thinking....
As I was driving on my path to work today, I passed by a Baptist Church. Under the title of the church, read, "Mormonism-A biblical study Tuesdays 7 pm"
What I don't get is why a church would study another religion....when, isn't going to church about learning about God's plan for us and studying his teachings?
I know that their "studying" is most likely mormon bashing, and I just cannot comprehend why anyone would do that to another church.
I have always gone to church to learn about Christ, not once has my church attendance ever included talking about other religions, or for that matter, bashing other religions.
I know not everyone that reads my blog is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, "mormons"(our popular nickname), and I am not trying to talk badly about any other church, I just really don't understand why another church would set aside a night every week to study another religion. If you really want to truly learn about the mormon religion wouldn't you just attend an LDS church?
Maybe we ( LDS church members) are the only ones who don't study other religions while at church, are we the weird ones? Or are we just at church to learn about Christ and not to waste our time belittling others beliefs?
Opinions please!!!

ALicia Cole,

I go to a Episcopalian church which is actually a cathoilc church but very liberal. One of my best friends is mormon and we offten attend their church even though we aren't mormon and vise versa. I think its important to learn of other religions then you eliminate all the bashing you were talking about. My church does explain what other religions teach but like I said it is a church that is on the liberal side that is very excepting and we respect all beliefs. We aren't affraid of other religions and believe all religions have important beliefs that we feel important to understand. I do think that most churchs have those meetings to talk bad about others but there are ones out there who really want to learn. Educating ourselves is very important and tears down barriers. I think the reason my friend and I are able to be such close friends is because I understand her religion(which is a very important part of her life) as if it were my own.
