Adventures of the Utah State Fair

Tonight we took Paityn on her first real adventurous outing as a newborn; a trip to the FAIR. Geoff was not too excited about going, but I have always wanted to see what it is like since I am used to the Los Angeles County Fair, and I knew it would probably be much different. We met up with Kade, Karlie and Kimber Hanks and off we went, all of us in the big truck. Luckily they have that truck or we would always have to drive separate since there are so many of us now!!
Well, my intuition was right...the fair was a BIT smaller than the L.A. fair, but still fun. Geoff made it seem like it was some tiny thing with only hot dogs and nachos to eat, but I knew that couldn't be the case, after all it was a fair, and what else do you do at a fair other than EAT??? Yes, he did lie to me, trying to make it seem like some boring thing so that I wouldn't want to go I guess!!! He was definately tricking me, they had plenty of food vendors...Geoff, Kade and Karlie went for the Navajo Taco and I decided to have a funnel cake, mmmm!
After eating, we walked around, didn't buy any of the lateset gimmicks, but enjoyed walking through the buildings. We also had the pleasure of such wonderful smells as we visited the cows, pigs, sheep and goats. There was even a 1,000 lb. pig at this fair but you had to pay to see it, and we opted out of that one! The piglets were sure adorable, but they grow up to be so stinky and large!!
Lastly, we were off to possibly ride down the big giant slide but Geoff was a little intimidated by its size, and spending the money to ride so we just stood there for a minute watching as people were enjoying the slide, and then turned and headed the other way. Geoff really just wanted to save his money for the warm cinnamon almonds, yum! After stopping for his treat, we were about finished, and the fair was approaching closing time so our night of fun had ended, and Paityn's first adventure of smelling farm animals had been accomplished!
All in all, it was fun, definately not any comparison to what I had been accustomed to growing up in L.A., but it was a real fair, with men in cowboy hats, ribbons being awarded, and good old fried food!!!!!

Joy- we traded fair's this year. We hit the LA County Fair today. It was BIG! Which meant lots and lots of traffic. I think I would go for SLC just for that reason. And I guess I am bias to Utah!! but I think the fatty food is good everywhere!~
